Applications are invited from string players - violin, viola, cello - to form a quartet known as the Arthur Russell Honors String Quartet. This ensemble will receive coaching and have performance opportunities during the months of June-August, 2012. Applicants should be Maine residents and of high school age at the time of application. The award will provide a partial to full tuition scholarship at Arthur Russell Strings chamber music program in Southwest Harbor, July 2-7, 2012. An outreach performance, date TBD, will be scheduled in the Bar Harbor area during the summer months as well as performances during the ARS week. All transportation to and from events and the program will be the responsibility of the individual. Successful applicants will be expected to meet as a group for coaching by ARS faculty and to prepare enough repertoire for any performances that may take place before the summer season.
